URGENT: Save your SHSH now!!!

Urgent action required for anyone that likes jailbreaking 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 and wants to do so in the near future.

For those of you unaware of the Apple firmware update policy, you can only restore firmware version that Apple approves. When you restore in iTunes, it goes to Apple’s web site and verifies if you are eligible for this specific version. This was solved by Cydia storing your SHSH (the is it ok to restore this version request response from Apple). This has been ok for the last year.

Semaphore (aka Notcom), the developer behind TinyUmbrella, has pushed a new update from TinyUmbrella to version 4.32.00 to allow you to save iOS 4.3.2 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4G, 3G and iPad, also TinyUmbrella 4.32.00 allows you to save SHSH for Verizon iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.7.

As a reminder, to save your SHSH blobs, simply connect your iDevice via USB to your computer, launch TinyUmbrella, and click the “Save SHSH” button.

Apple is still signing 4.3.1. I suggest you grab the updated tiny umbrella v4.30.05 (Windows) (OSX) and save your SHSH locally for 4.3.1 on all your devices. For current 4.3.2 SHSH, use the latest tiny umbrella version (same instructions) (Windows) and (OSX).

To do this, go to advanced, uncheck “request shsh from cydia” and uncheck “set hosts to cydia on exit”. Then restart umbrella, go to show all shsh’s and save them all. In the logs you should see 4.3.1 come down. This will allow you to restore 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 through umbrella’s tss server if you need to.

Cydia’s SHSH system will hopefully be back up soon. When it is, I will post about it on this site. (Note: your older shsh’s are still safely stored in Cydia and are not lost).

Alternative to this is to install iSHSHit from Cydia, back up your SHSH and then email it to yourself. From there you can copy it to tiny umbrella’s SHSH folder.

Safely guide to Jailbreaking iPhone, iPod touch, and original iPad running iOS 4.3.2 with redsn0w 0.9.6rc14

iOS 4.3.2 untethered jailbreak for iPhone, iPod touch, and original iPad is now live… and it’s pretty much the same as the iOS 4.3.1 Jailbreak so we’re updating this post to get you going faster! The Dev-Team has used their hax0r magic to bring us yet another gift in the form of an untethered jailbreak! This jailbreak will require you to use redsn0w, which is available for both Windows and Mac OS X.

Important: iPad 2 is still not supported and unlockers need to steer clear until ultrasn0w is updated.

What you need

• iTunes 10.2.2 or higher
• redsn0w for Windows or Mac
• You’ll need a copy of the iOS 4.3.2 IPSW file

Below is a list of supported devices:

• iPhone 3GS (old + new bootrom)
• iPhone 4 (GSM)
• iPod Touch 3G (non-8GB model)
• iPod Touch 4G
• iPad 1G

Before starting your jailbreak
please follow these steps to avoid the failures that may occur:

1. Set redsn0w.exe Properties to Compatibility = Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
2. Run redsn0w.exe as Admiminstrator.
3. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> under the Univeral Serial Bus Controllers, stop & disable the APPLE MOBILE DEVICE USB Driver.
4. After that run your redsn0w Jailbreak
5. And you are good to go.

Some window PC hardware may experience this drivers conflict between redsn0w program and the apple Mobile device USB driver.
Remember to start & enable again after your jailbreak

Step by step:

1. First, you will need to download redsn0w via the link above

2. Next, you will need to go grab the appropriate iOS firmware for your device. (If you updated via iTunes, it’ll be in your iTunes directory..

3. Once you have downloaded the correct firmware and redsn0w, you are now ready to jailbreak.

4. After you launch redsn0w, you will be asked to browse and choose the custom firmware you downloaded in the previous step.

5. Next you’ll choose to install Cydia

6. And redsn0w will walk you through how to place your device in DFU mode. Just make sure you start this process with your device OFF.

7. Let your device do its thing

8. And you’re done!

In our experience, we’ve noticed this jailbreak seemed a bit buggy on the original iPad.

Instructions
